SprayNPray pull off an improbable victory after a highly disappointing regular season
Championship Bound 50 Spray’N’Pray 67
Admittedly, I thought this game was Championship Bound game to lose. The odds were stacked against Matty and company, but Matty’s confidence never wavered.
Championship Bound got off to a hot start, per usual. It’s been their calling card all season! Led by a super impressive defense by Kevin Devine, they were able to develop an early 7-point cushion halfway through the first half (18-11).
X was in his bag! Leading all scorers with 9-points in the first half. He paced Championship Bound offensively, as their regular season leading scorer Nick Rossetti struggled to find his touch.
With Kevin going all out to slow down Marquis, the Championship Bound offense was extremely stagnant and unproductive offensively, allowing SprayNPray to stay within reach.
I openly questioned SprayNPrays gameplan and Matty in the most polite and confident way possible told me to go pound sand (lol). Scott shooting the ball every time he touched it was a part of their game plan.
The 10-0 run they would go on to end the half was evidence of his brilliance and was orchestrated by none other than Scott Glynn.
Scott would go into the half as SpayNPrays leading scorer and they took a commanding 8-point (27-19) lead, which they would not relinquish despite Championship Bounds’ effort.
Once the second half started, they continued to increase their lead with three-ball after three-ball.
Matty scored 9 points in the second half, connecting on 3 baskets from downtown. Matty would go on to finish the game with 11-points.
Tim would finish the game as SprayNPrays leading scorer with 18-points, all but 4 were scored in the second half.
Scott who kick-started the SprayNPray offense finished with 16 points and 4 baskets from deep. Super impressive game, Scott!
Nick Keramaris played his ass off! Literally grabbing every rebound in sight and rejecting a ridiculous number of shots. In my opinion, he will go down as the steal of the draft. I don’t think he’ll slip in the draft next season that’s for sure.
Statistically, this was Marquis’ worst game of the season. However, the boxscore is not indicative of his gameplay. Yes, he struggled from deep, but his ability to draw double and triple teams and create wide-open opportunities for his team made a huge difference for the SprayNPray offense.
The dagger/back breaker would come on Malssssss dagger from long-distance and the rest is history!
Fantastic win boys! Heck of season and we couldn’t have crowned a better group of guys champions!
Way to go fellas! Looking forward to seeing you all again next season.
