Corp brings an end to Goyle’s streak
BRob started off the scoring for XCorp with back-to-back threes and was a huge factor on both ends. The Corp was playing physical defense and Goyle was have a tough time getting into the paint. Jake got a lefty scoop to drop and hit a three, but after Mazz and Cundall get sme buckets and free throws, the Corp lead was up to 7. Brob and Mazz hit back-to-back threes and Corp continued to get stops on the defensive end. Jake had a steal which led to a transition layup and more than halfway through the first half, he was still the only player from Goyle to score. Brob continued to make great lays on the defensive end, drawing a charge on Weinstein. Luigi finally got on the board with a jumper but would soon have to exit the game after picking up his third foul. Closing out the half, Jeffries and Jake would hit big triples for Goyle which brought the lead down to 6 going into the break.
Coming out of the half Dennis got to the free throw line and Mazz had a bucket to build on Corp’s lead. Luigi finally got Goyle on the board but would soon after be called for a tech. Mazz would make both free throws. The composure and intensity typical of Goyle seemed to be lacking in this game and they could never get closer than a 9 point deficit. Dennis and Mazz continued to pour it on for the Corp and built the lead up to 14. Weinstein finally got his first field goal midway through the 2nd half, thanks to great defense from Ben Stephenson for the Corp. Goyle would make a push late in the 2nd half, with Weinstein and Jake leading the way and Luigi hitting a three. Ultimately, it would be too little, too late and Xcorp would put an end to Chas’ to championship streak.
Finals MVP – Mazz. Hard to argue against this. His shot creation and gravity opened everything up for the Corp. Had 6 assists and 9 rebounds to go with 29 points
